Stephen Brower's Trek to visit all 50 States |
OverviewThis site is a personal website meant to document my Trek to visit all 50 states. The Idea...The idea for me to visit all states was inspired by an article in an in-house magazine at Merck & Co., Inc. which featured an employee(Marty) who had run a marathon in all 50 states. I realized that my parents had brought me to a number of states: Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusets, New York, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, and California. Of course I lived in New Jersey my whole life, so that's 11 states. When I was in college I was on the Forensics team. We went to Wisconsin, Illionois, and Florida. I also realized at the time that Merck had sent me to many states. Merck sent me on overnight trips to: Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Washington(state). I was also sent on day trips to: New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington D.C. That's an additional 7 new states So at that time I read the article, I had been to 20 states. I thought to myself that I have no intention of running a marathon, but visiting all 50 states was a reachable goal. Besides, so many people travel outside of the US for vacation, why not keep my vacation dollars in the states. [ Except for Ireland...I want to go back! ]
